Continuing Education Credit for Bank Locates — Oklahoma and Tennessee

Most continuing education is endured rather than used. You sit through it, you file the certificate, and nothing about your work changes.

That last one is the part worth the fee. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act makes it a federal offence to obtain customer information from a financial institution by false pretences. A great many people in this industry improvise that call and have no idea how close to the line they are standing. Learning where the line actually sits is worth more than the credit.

Why the course exists

In the author’s words: a few years ago he did not know much about conducting bank locates. He called in a number of favours and was met with silence. What he learned was that many professionals were subbing the work out and could not perform the investigation themselves. It took hours of reading and over a thousand dollars in trial and error to build a system that worked.
